"I feel like I've really found my calling. I love the work I do."
In this interview, we'll talk to Nicole, who switched careers from one industry to another and found great success in her new role. She'll share her experience of making the transition, the challenges she faced, and the rewards she reaped.
Interviewer: Nicole, you've had a pretty interesting career journey. Can you tell us a bit about it?
Nicole: Sure! I actually started my career in the hospitality industry. I worked in restaurants and hotels for several years, but eventually realised that it wasn't the right fit for me. I've always been interested in real estate and advertising, so I decided to make the switch. It was definitely a big change, but one that I'm really glad I made.
Interviewer: What were some of the challenges you faced when switching careers?
Nicole: Well, one of the biggest challenges was figuring out how to transfer my skills from one industry to another. I had to really think about what skills were transferable and how I could position myself as a strong candidate for real estate roles. I also had to learn a lot of new things - real estate is a very different world from hospitality! But I was excited to learn and grow, so I didn't mind putting in the work.
Interviewer: And how has your new career been going?
Nicole: It's been amazing, actually. I feel like I've really found my calling. I love the work I do, and I feel like I'm making a real impact in my company. I've been promoted a few times since I started, and I'm really proud of what I've accomplished.
Interviewer: That's great to hear. What advice would you give to someone who's considering switching careers?
Nicole: I would say, go for it! It can be scary to make a big change, but if you're not happy in your current career, it's worth it to explore other options. Take some time to think about what you're really passionate about, and then figure out how to make that work in a new career. And don't be afraid to ask for help - talk to people in the industry you're interested in, and see if they can offer any advice or guidance.
Interviewer: Congratulations on your success in your new career. Can you tell me more about how you were able to transition to a completely different industry?
Nicole: Thank you! It was definitely a big change, but I was motivated to make a shift and pursue something that I was truly passionate about. I did a lot of research on the industry, took courses to gain relevant skills and knowledge, and networked with professionals to learn more about the field. It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but it was worth it in the end.
Interviewer: That's very inspiring. Did you face any challenges during this transition?
Nicole: Definitely. I had to learn a completely new set of skills and adapt to a new work culture. There were times when I doubted myself and wondered if I had made the right decision, but I kept pushing forward and staying focused on my goals. I also had to deal with some rejection along the way, but I didn't let that discourage me.
Interviewer: It sounds like you had a great mindset throughout the transition. What advice would you give to someone who wants to make a similar career change?
Nicole: My advice would be to do your research, take courses or training to gain relevant skills, network with professionals in the industry, and be willing to start at the bottom and work your way up. It's also important to stay focused on your goals and not let rejection or setbacks get you down. Believe in yourself and your abilities, and never stop learning and growing.
Interviewer: That's great advice. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Nicole.
Nicole: Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure.
